The highly anticipated Triple Beam Pizza (Nancy Silverton in HLP!) is finally open. And now that it’s been open a few weeks, it’s calmed down a bit and not too bad for those averse to waiting in line. Popped in at 12:30 on a Sunday and waited just a couple of minutes to order.
They advertise on the board that there’s vegan pie, but there are only non-vegan pies sitting on the counter ready for purchase. What’s a vegan to do? Just request the vegan pie and they’ll let you know the toppings available, to which you agree, then pay and go wait at a table or counter for them to bring it out as it will take 5-10 minutes to prepare.
The slice pictured is a 7oz Tomato & Mushroom, which costs around $7 and is enough for one person. It was tasty! It had a surprisingly crispy crust for being weighed down with so many mushrooms. Also surprising was how salty and oily it was- perhaps to make up for the absence of cheese? I found myself enjoying the slice but taking sips of my self-serve/complimentary sparkling water between each bite. Despite that, I would certainly return. I imagine with time they will figure out a good balance of flavors for the vegan pies.
Get there via the Eagle Rock/Highland Park DASH bus, Metro’s 81 or 83 bus, or walk (4-minute walk) from the Highland Park Gold Line train station.
No bike parking in front. Use a parking meter instead (at your own risk).
